About MANX

A field guide to a possible future.

Independent research, practical exploration and a clear trail back to the evidence. A 42.uk project led by Dominic Marrocco.

Why this project exists

MANX asks how the Isle of Man could compete in an economy where AI systems perform more useful work and act under delegated authority. It brings together the Island's institutional and commercial experience, the agentic economy research programme and the lived qualities that make a place worth investing in.

The project is broader than an AI brochure. It combines a proposed white paper, academic writing, comparative research, an institutional guide and a starting point for visits and collaboration.

Editorial status

This is an independent publication. It is not an Isle of Man Government website, an official tourism service, a registry, a regulator or a provider of legal advice. Statements labelled “proposal” describe research recommendations. A published source can establish a fact without proving a proposed economic mechanism.

The new Agentic Economy chapter is Dominic Marrocco's sole-authored working manuscript. Its historical starting point is the 2012 work coauthored with Thomas Lange; the new extension does not imply Lange's participation or endorsement. AI assistance supports drafting and development.

How evidence is handled

Each research document retains a date and status. Enactment, commencement and operational availability are different questions. Registry size, inspection performance and service awards are different comparisons. An international search is not a certification that every country's law has been cleared.

Core legal and comparative research was checked on 29–30 October 2026. This website's first edition is dated 31 October 2026. Source dates remain visible rather than being replaced with the website's publication date. The full underlying private archive has not been published or exhaustively reread.

Privacy and accessibility

This edition adds no analytics, account creation or contact form. Search and planning run in your browser; reading preferences are saved only in your browser. The hosting provider may keep ordinary server access logs. External links take you to services with their own policies.

The site supports keyboard navigation, reduced-motion preferences, readable long-form text, a light reading mode and print layouts. Explore the evidence library →
